The Trek 6 Series 6700 Hardtail

In our July 2008 issue, we tested the Trek 6000 and declared that the Trek 6000 was the ultimate hardtail trailbike. It does the job quickly and easily. We then took delivery of Trek 6700, an aluminum hardtail which sits at the top Treks 6 Series models. It costs approximately the same as the 6000. This is a 50% increase in price but can still be justified.

Quote from the test: The 6700 is light when it’s carving singletrack and agile on fireroad sweepers. Although it’s not a downhill bike, it isn’t a wandering, nervous bunch. You can lower your saddle to allow for longer descents with the quick-release seatpost clamp.

Stoked:
It’s yours to buy and ride
Reacts very well to your pedaling input
Great dealer network

Bummed:
There is nothing to be unhappy about.

The Trek 6700 is a proof of something we have tried many times to communicate in the past. You can buy the bike that you like and not worry about upgrading if a new technology is available. Trek 6700 is a solid bike with great components. It also has a wide dealer network. You should consider the cost of upgrades if the price is pushing you out of your comfort zone. The 6700 suddenly seems like a bargain.
